Mazmazika
Online sheet music maker

Write music, note by note.

Compose, hear and engrave sheet music in your browser — parts, playback, MIDI and typed note entry, real-time collaboration, and publish-ready scores.

About the Mazmazika sheet music editor

The notes editor is a full score writer that runs in the browser. Enter notes with the mouse, the computer keyboard or a MIDI keyboard, and the engraving updates as you type: key and time signatures, clefs, multiple parts, dynamics, articulations, lyrics and chord symbols. Press play and every part is performed with sampled instruments so you hear what you wrote, not a beep.

Scores can be exported as MusicXML, MIDI, PDF or audio, so a piece started here opens in MuseScore, Sibelius, Finale or a DAW. A library of 5,700 public-domain and traditional scores is included to study, play along with, or use as a starting point.

How it works

  1. Start a blank score, pick instruments and a time signature, or open a piece from the library.
  2. Enter notes by clicking the staff, typing pitches and durations, or playing them on a connected MIDI keyboard. Typed entry is the fastest once you learn the shortcuts shown in the palette.
  3. Shape the music: add parts, dynamics, slurs, repeats, lyrics and chord symbols. The engraving engine keeps spacing and page layout correct as the score grows.
  4. Play it back, loop a passage at a slower tempo to practise, then print or export.

What musicians use it for

  • Composers and arrangers writing lead sheets, choir parts or full arrangements.
  • Students doing theory homework or transcribing a melody with instant playback to check it.
  • Teachers preparing exercises and hand-outs, with a class-ready PDF in minutes.
  • Players who want a piece from the library slowed down with a piano dock showing the keys.
  • Anyone who needs a clean, engraved PDF of a melody or an arrangement.

Compared with desktop notation software, there is nothing to install or update and your scores follow you between devices; compared with other online editors, playback uses real sampled instruments and the library gives you thousands of scores to start from.

Questions musicians ask

Which file formats can I import and export?

Import MusicXML, the format every major notation program writes. Export MusicXML, MIDI, PDF and audio. Which exports your plan includes is listed under Free vs Pro above; nothing you write here is locked in.

Can I use a MIDI keyboard?

Yes. Connect it over USB, allow MIDI access when the browser asks, and step-time entry records the pitches you play at the selected duration. Chrome and Edge support Web MIDI; Safari needs an extension.

Does it engrave properly or just place notes?

The renderer is Verovio, a professional engraving engine used by music libraries. Spacing, beaming, accidentals, ties across systems and page breaks follow standard engraving rules.

Can I write for several instruments?

Yes. Add as many parts as you need, each with its own clef, transposition and playback instrument. Parts can be shown together or extracted one at a time for printing.

Is my work saved?

Scores auto-save to your account while you work and appear under My Files, and you can download a MusicXML copy at any time.

Does it work on a tablet or phone?

The editor is responsive, with a landscape mode and touch-friendly palettes on small screens. Serious editing is more comfortable on a tablet or larger, but reading and playing a library score works well on a phone.
